BOARD OF ALDERMEN MEETING MINUTES
DECEMBER 12, 2005
The regular meeting of the
New Franklin Board of Aldermen was called to order by Mayor Jerry B Thornton
Monday, December 12, 2005 at 7:00 PM at the Community Building, N Union Street,
New Franklin, Missouri. Present were as follows:

- Alderwoman Megas moved to
approve the Minutes of November 28, 2005. Alderwoman Heilman seconded the
motion. Five aye votes. No nay votes. Motion carried.
- Alderman Banks moved to
approve the Bills for December 12, 2005. Alderwoman Megas seconded the
motion. Five aye votes. No nay votes. Motion carried.
- The House Decorating
contest will be judged Sunday, December 18 at 6:00 pm.
- Alderman Banks moved to
approve the renewal of Blue Choice Health Insurance plan for employees,
effective January 1, 2006. Alderwoman Megas seconded the motion. Five
aye votes. No nay votes. Motion carried.
- Alderwoman Heilman moved
to approve the transfer of funds from the Police Department savings
account to the general checking account in the amount of $3127.96 for new
equipment, uniforms, and 2005 Impala expenses. Alderwoman Megas seconded
the motion. Five aye votes. No nay votes. Motion carried.
- Alderman Nowlin moved to
authorize the City Clerk to advertise and accept sealed bids for the 1997
Crown Victoria until 5 pm, January 9, 2006. Bids to be opened at the
January 9, 2006 meeting at 7:00 pm.
- Alderman Banks moved to
approve the recognition of Cindy Kivett at the Howard County Expo for the
work on the Franklin, LA Relief Fund. Alderwoman Megas seconded the
motion. Five aye votes. No nay votes. Motion carried.
- The December 26, 2005
meeting is cancelled. City Hall will be closed December 26th
and January 2nd.
- The Board discussed
adopting a 25 mile per hour ordinance for the school zone. The current
school zone speed limit of 25 mph is set by the Department of
Transportation. The city attorney will be asked to draft the bill for
review at the next meeting.
- Alderwoman Heilman moved
to adjourn. Alderman Banks seconded the motion. Five aye votes. No nay
votes. Meeting adjourned.
