BOARD OF ALDERMEN MEETING MINUTES
MAY 14, 2007


The regular meeting of the New Franklin Board of Aldermen was called to order by Mayor C Frank Frevert May 14, 2007 at 7:00 pm at 132 East Broadway, New Franklin, Missouri. Present were as follows:

1. Alderwoman Heilman moved to approve the Minutes of April 23, 2007. Alderman Thompson seconded the motion. Six aye votes. No nay votes. Motion carried.

2. Alderman Thompson moved to approve the Bills for May 14, 2007. Alderman McGee seconded the motion. Six aye votes. No nay votes. Motion carried.

3. A meeting with the Consolidated Public Water District #1, City of Fayette ad hoc water committee, and City of Glasgow was set for May 30th at 7:00 pm. The purpose of the meeting is to discuss a regional water treatment facility.

4. A comprehensive planning meeting with Ed Siegmund of the Regional Planning Commission and members of the community focus group will be set either June 5, 13, or 21st, whichever is convenient for Mr. Siegmund.

5. Alderman McGee moved to cancel the regular meeting for May 28, 2007 Memorial Day. Alderman Banks seconded the motion. Six aye votes. No nay votes. Motion carried. The City Admin/Clerk will provide members with a board packet even though the Board will not meet.

6. Chief of Police Wells reported no word yet on the radio grant application. Mr. Wells also stated that his department had prepared for the pending flood as much as possible.

7. City Services Director advised that a routine flushing of hydrants will take place Friday. Mosquito fogging will be overnight this Thursday; and mosquito control dunks have been ordered to treat larvae in standing water as a result of the flooding of Sulphur Creek. With gas prices over $3.00 per gallon, mowing of right of ways and city property will be less often this summer.

8. LoriAnn Houchen, Chair of the Park Committee, said the Clean up day was very successful. Thank you's will be sent later this week to all the organizations that volunteered.

9. Alderman Nowlin suggested that a protective grate be built over the spillway at the City Park. Board members will visit the site and discuss again at the next meeting.

10. Election costs this year were $350.00 more than budgeted. Alderman Thompson asked for an itemization of expenses and a prorated cost share explanation for all entities with items on the ballot. The City Admin/Clerk provided that information at the end of the meeting.

11. Alderman Thompson commended Chief Wells for his work during the Sunday rain storm and pending flooding.

12. Alderman Thompson asked Mr. Harvey to check the storm drain at N Missouri and East Church Streets; it appears to be clogged.

13. Alderman McGee moved to adjourn. Alderman Nowlin seconded the motion. Six aye votes. No nay votes. Motion carried. Meeting adjourned.
