The regular meeting of the New Franklin Board of Aldermen was called to order
by Mayor C. Frank Frevert Monday August 27, 2007 at 7:00 pm at 132 East Broadway,
New Franklin, Missouri. Present were as follows:

1. Alderman James moved to give a letter of permit to the Fraternal Order of the Eagles, # 1022, Boonville, Missouri to operate a beer garden for specific hours at Santa Fe Trails Days September 14 and 15. Alderman McGee seconded the motion. Five voting aye. Motion carried.
2. Alderwoman Heilman moved to approve the Minutes of July 9, 2007. Alderman Banks seconded the motion. Five voting aye. Motion carried.
3. Alderwoman Heilman moved to approve the Minutes of July 23, 2007. Alderman Thompson seconded the motion. Five aye votes. Motion carried.
4. Alderman Thompson moved to approve the bills of August 13, 2007, with the exception of AmerenUE for $797.47 until the City Clerk speaks with AmerenUE about waiving this charge for damage to a gas line while digging to repair a water line. Alderman Banks seconded the motion. Five voting aye. Motion carried.
5. Comprehensive Planning Meeting - Street & Sidewalks is August 16, 2007 from 7-8 pm. Suggested members of the Housing Committee are Billy Rickley, Gordon Peavler, and Ken Sappington.
6. Board members authorized the City Administrator/City Clerk to serve on the Howard County Economic Developer Board of Directors as the representative for New Franklin.
7. The salaries questionnaire results were distributed to members of the board and city employees. New Franklin employee information will be provided in the same format in the board members' meeting packets for the September 10th meeting.
8. City Services Director Harvey advised the Board that the city had switched fuel vendors. Rather than purchasing fuel in bulk from Lang Oil, employees have been issued cards to purchase fuel from either MFA Oil - Petro-24 or Casey's General Store. It was agreed that Mr. Harvey could purchase the tank of choice to contain and transport diesel fuel.
9. Used guardrail for the City Park and Clifton Heights Circle will be purchased from the Dept of Transportation. Alderman Thompson will assist with the logistics of obtaining the guardrail.
10. City Services employees have been working from 5 am - 2 pm because of the severe heat.
11. Numerous loads of limbs from August 12th storm have been picked up by city employees.
12. After resolving a water line volume issue on Merchant Street, work will return to cleaning out ditches on Stagecoach Road, particularly the west side.
13. Chief Wells informed the Board that the city was awarded the SEMA grant for mobile and base radios. Car #713 will be getting decaled this week.
14. Alderman Thompson expressed thanks on behalf of the board to the city services department and police department for their work during the August 12th storm.
15. Alderman Thompson moved to adjourn to closed session pursuant to Chapter
610.021, subsection 3 of the Revised Missouri Statutes. Alderman McGee seconded
the motion.
